Terms of service
Last updated 6 November 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Bookhatch. We've kept them short and plain. Please read them, especially the part about your responsibilities as a publisher.
Using Bookhatch
Bookhatch helps you plan, write, illustrate and format books for print. By creating an account you agree to these terms. You must be 18 or older and give a real email address. Keep your login safe: you're responsible for what happens in your account.
Plans, credits and payment
- The Free plan gives a one-time grant of 300 credits for planning and writing. Pictures and covers need a paid plan or a top-up. Files are the same clean files on every plan.
- Paid plans renew every month until you cancel, and add that plan's credits at each renewal. Payments are processed by Stripe.
- You can cancel at any time from your account. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Prices and credit costs are listed on the pricing page. If we change them, we'll tell you before your next renewal.
Refunds
When you start a book, Bookhatch reserves its credit estimate. If a page fails, you stop early, or the book uses less than expected, the unused credits are returned to your balance automatically.
Payments for a billing period that has already started are not usually refunded. If something went wrong on our side, email tryhatchbook@gmail.com and we'll put it right.
You own your books
As between you and Bookhatch, the books you make are yours. On any plan you may publish and sell them on Amazon KDP or anywhere else, without paying us royalties. We only use your books to run the service for you, such as storing them and letting you download them.
AI-generated work may not be protected by copyright in every country, and similar ideas can lead to similar results for other users. We can't promise that your book is unique or that you can stop others from making something like it.
Your responsibilities as a publisher
- Disclose AI content. KDP asks whether a book contains AI-generated text, images or translations. You are responsible for answering that honestly when you publish.
- Follow the store's rules. You are responsible for meeting KDP's content guidelines and any other store's rules, including rules on low-quality, misleading or duplicated content.
- Review before you publish. Read your book, check every page and use KDP's previewer. AI can make mistakes in text and pictures.
- Respect other people's rights. Don't ask Bookhatch to copy existing books, characters, brands or real people's likenesses, and don't publish anything you don't have the right to publish.
What you can't do
Don't use Bookhatch to make content that is illegal, sexual content involving minors, hateful, or meant to harass or deceive; to break the law or someone else's rights; or to overload, scrape or attack the service. We may refuse a prompt, remove content or close an account that breaks these rules.
No guarantees
We work hard to make files that follow KDP's published print specifications, but KDP reviews every book and makes its own decisions. We can't guarantee that a book will be accepted, stay on sale or earn money. Bookhatch is provided “as is”, and to the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses such as lost sales or profits. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Closing your account
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Download any books you want to keep before closing your account.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Bookhatch grows. If a change matters, we'll update the date above and email account holders before it takes effect.
