What is a credit?
Credits pay for the AI work in a book: planning, writing and drawing. Layout, puzzles, PDFs and KDP files cost nothing. The table on this page lists what each part costs.
What happens to credits a book doesn't use?
They go straight back to your balance. Bookhatch reserves the estimate when you start a book, and if a page fails or you stop early, credits for anything not made are returned automatically.
What does the Free plan include?
300 credits, once, with no card, for planning and writing. Activity and puzzle books can be finished free; line art, illustrations and covers need a paid plan or a $10 top-up. Files are the same clean, KDP-ready files on every plan.
What's the difference between the paid plans?
Only the number of credits added each month: 2,500 on Starter, 5,500 on Author and 12,000 on Studio. Features are the same on every plan.
Can I sell books made on the Free plan?
Yes. Books you make are yours to publish and sell on any plan. You remain responsible for following KDP's content rules, including the AI disclosure.
Can I buy more credits?
Yes. On a paid plan you can add 1,000 credits for $10 whenever you need them, without changing plans.
Do unused monthly credits roll over?
Yes. Each renewal adds the plan's credits to your balance, and credits you haven't used stay there; there is no monthly reset. Top-up credits work the same way.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time from your account. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and you keep the books you've made.
How do I pay?
Card payments are handled by Stripe. Bookhatch never sees or stores your full card number.
