Bookhatch is a small tool for making books. This page explains, in plain words, what information we collect, why we need it and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and sign-in details. Accounts are run on Supabase, which stores them for us.
- Your books: the ideas, prompts and edits you type in, and the text, images and files Bookhatch makes for you. We keep these so you can come back to your books and download them again.
- Billing: your plan, credit balance and payment history. Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Basic technical data: things like your IP address, browser type and error logs, which our hosting providers record so the service stays up and secure.
How we use it
We use your information to run Bookhatch: to sign you in, make and store your books, keep track of credits, take payments, answer support emails and fix problems. We may email you about your account, such as receipts or important changes to the service. We don't sell your personal information and we don't use your books to advertise to you.
Who else processes it
We use a small number of providers to run the service, and they process data only to do that job for us:
- Supabase for accounts, the database and file storage.
- Stripe for payments and invoices.
- AI model providers, who receive your prompts and book plans so they can generate text and images. We send them what is needed to make your book, not your payment details.
- Hosting providers that serve this website and the app.
- Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces on this website and so sees your IP address when a page loads.
Cookies and local storage
The app uses cookies or browser storage to keep you signed in and remember simple settings. This marketing site does not use advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and books while your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete your books and personal data within 30 days, except for records we must keep for tax and accounting, such as invoices.
Your choices
You can download your books at any time. You can ask us for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@bookhatch.app. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local privacy law, and you can complain to your data protection authority.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with providers that protect it with access controls. No service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
Bookhatch makes books for children, but accounts are for adults. You must be 18 or older to sign up.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and tell account holders by email before the change takes effect.
